How do I receive college credit for a Microsoft Certification?
Through ACE credit recommendations and a link to your Microsoft Learn transcript. Microsoft answers this question itself, as shown in the United States on 13 October 2026: "The American Council on Education (ACE) has reviewed and established credit recommendations for select Microsoft Certifications. Upon earning a credential for an ACE recommended exam, you can send a verifiable link of your official Microsoft Learn transcript to your ACE member college or university and request credit for your certification."
Credit is for select exams, and your school decides. Microsoft says credit applies to "some Microsoft Certifications" and that schools recognize ACE recommendations "as applicable toward a post-secondary degree or certificate." A school does not have to be an ACE member: "Yes. Membership isn't required to accept ACE credit recommendations." Microsoft adds: "You should check with the admissions or registration team at your school of choice to determine their acceptance policies."
Send a link, not a file. Asked whether you can email your transcript as an attachment, Microsoft answers: "No. You should send a verifiable link to your official Microsoft transcript to request credit."
What we couldn't find. The college-credit page we read on 13 October 2026 does not name AB-730 or the AI Business Professional certification, and the AB-730 certification page read the same day does not mention college credit. Microsoft keeps its full list of ACE-reviewed exams at a separate link, https://aka.ms/ACECollegeCredit, which we did not read. The college-credit page also does not say how many credit hours any exam carries.
What you can do.
- Check the list first. Open Microsoft's ACE list at https://aka.ms/ACECollegeCredit and look for your exam. Microsoft asks you to "copy the link for the exam title corresponding to the credential you have earned."
- Ask your school who receives it. "Contact your college or university to determine the appropriate recipient and necessary contact information for receiving your Microsoft Learn transcript."
- Make the transcript link. Sign into your Learn profile, select "Transcript", then "Transcript Settings", and select "Show legal name" and "Show contact email." The first time, select "Share link" and then "Create link."; if you made one before, select "Copy link."
- Email both links. "Make sure to include this certification exam link in the email to your college or university, along with the link to verify your Microsoft Learn transcript."
