Frequently asked questions about academies.ai

Short answers to the questions people ask most about academies.ai and about choosing AI courses and certifications. Each answer uses facts already published on this site, and every figure keeps its date.

What is academies.ai?

Academies.ai is an independent directory and decision-support platform for professionals comparing artificial intelligence education. As shown on 7 October 2026, it lists 163 programs (159 current) from 27 providers, with 41 side-by-side comparisons and 16 decision guides. Listings link to first-party provider sources, and each program keeps its own check date. A listing is not an endorsement or a guarantee of outcomes.

Can a provider pay academies.ai for a better ranking?

No. Payment cannot purchase an editorial ranking, and a provider cannot buy a positive review or the removal of relevant criticism. Academies.ai may earn commissions from clearly disclosed partner links. A commercial link is disclosed close to the relevant action, and affiliate eligibility does not control inclusion or editorial order. See the editorial policy.

How are prices shown, and why does each price have a date?

A price is the figure from the provider’s page in the United States view, with the date we checked it, and it keeps that date on every page. Each program is in one of three price states: free, an accepted price, or no accepted price. No accepted price means we have not accepted a figure yet; it does not mean free. A monthly price buys one month of access and an exam fee covers one attempt, so neither is the total cost to finish.

How do I compare AI courses and certifications by cost, difficulty and practical skills?

Start with one outcome another person could observe, such as passing a named certification exam or evaluating an AI vendor proposal. For difficulty, match the stated level and prerequisites to your starting point. For practical skills, look for graded work, labs, capstones or assessments that produce evidence; video hours alone are a weak measure. For cost, add tuition, exam fees, required subscriptions, tools and your time. See How to Choose an AI Course, The True Cost of an AI Certificate and our comparisons.

How can I tell whether an AI course is credible and worth the money?

Check that the program page is official, the credential issuer is clear, the curriculum is current and the content owner can be identified. Then ask what a third party can verify about the credential: issuer, criteria, date, skills assessed and expiry. Red flags include guaranteed jobs, salaries or business results, ratings with no traceable source, urgency that resets every time you visit, and a credential called “accredited” without naming the accrediting body. Judge value by the total cost against the evidence you will finish with.

Which AI certifications cost under USD 100, and are any free?

In our registry as shown on 7 October 2026, 5 certification exams have an accepted fee under USD 100 for one attempt: AWS Certified AI Business Strategist (AIB-C01 beta), USD 50, checked 4 October 2026; AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer - Associate (MLA-C02, beta), USD 75, checked 4 October 2026; Claude Certified Associate - Foundations (partner-only exam), USD 99, checked 7 October 2026; Google Cloud Generative AI Leader, USD 99, checked 4 September 2026; Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-901), USD 99, checked 4 September 2026. Free to take: Introduction to AI and Building AI from the University of Helsinki and MinnaLearn (the Building AI certificate is optional and paid), and fast.ai’s Practical Deep Learning for Coders. Another 41 programs show an access price under USD 100, but that buys a month or a set period of access, not a finished certificate. Exam fees exclude preparation and retakes. Every figure, date and scope is in Free and Under-USD-100 AI Certificates.

Should I start with Google AI Essentials or DeepLearning.AI’s AI for Everyone?

Choose by the kind of AI literacy you need. Google AI Essentials gives guided practice with generative-AI tools, prompting and responsible workflows in everyday work. AI for Everyone builds conceptual literacy: terminology, project workflows and company AI strategy, for people who work with technical teams without developing systems themselves. Both are beginner, online and self-paced with no prior experience required, and neither is advanced engineering training. See the side-by-side comparison.

Which AI course fits a business leader who does not code?

Look for learning that improves decisions about capability, data, risk, investment, people and organizational change, not coding. Several programs in our registry state that no coding or technical background is required, at very different prices: DeepLearning.AI’s Generative AI for Everyone and AI for Everyone, the AWS Certified AI Business Strategist beta exam, and live executive courses such as UC Berkeley’s Agentic AI: Strategy, Applications, and Organizational Impact. Prices and dates are in An AI Learning Path for Leaders Who Do Not Need to Code.

Is the Google AI Essentials certificate worth it?

It fits if you want a practical introduction to using generative AI at work: five beginner courses, no experience required, and under 10 hours in the program description. As shown in the United States on 3 October 2026, it costs USD 49 per month after an initial seven-day free trial. One month of access is not a completion guarantee. Completion earns a shareable Google career certificate, not a professional certification, so it is not the route for advanced engineering or a detailed organizational AI strategy. See the Google AI Essentials facts and sources.

Does academies.ai rank the best AI certifications?

No. We do not publish a single ranking of AI certifications. Each comparison declares a reader profile, and its score is a decision aid for that profile, not a universal ranking or evidence of employment outcomes. To weigh AWS, Google Cloud, NVIDIA and Microsoft certifications by fit, start with Vendor AI Certifications Compared, then check each program’s dated facts and price in the directory.

How often are program facts checked?

Each program page shows the date its facts were checked, and each price keeps its own observation date. As shown on 7 October 2026, the latest program fact check in the registry was 7 October 2026. AI programs change often, so reconfirm time-sensitive details such as price on the provider’s page before you pay.
