Choose the strategic question you need to answer
MIT Sloan AI Essentials is a broad starting point for leaders connecting AI literacy with organizational adoption. Berkeley's Agentic AI: Strategy, Applications, and Organizational Impact takes a more concentrated route through agentic systems, business value and governance. Both can fit a business leader making AI decisions. The useful distinction is whether you need a broad adoption framework or a focused examination of how agentic AI could affect your organization.
MIT's topics include strategy, ethics, regulation, prompt engineering and agent creation. Its in-person sample schedule moves through AI literacy, decision-making, integrated adoption, governance, culture and leadership. Berkeley covers understanding agentic systems, selecting and scaling use cases, preparing the organization, measuring business value, and establishing governance, security and oversight. Its capstone asks participants to develop an agentic-AI strategy for a real business challenge. Do not confuse this five-week course with Berkeley's separate eight-month Executive Program in AI and Digital Strategy.
Compare the actual delivery and tuition
MIT lists two dated 2026 formats at USD 5,700 tuition each. The September 24–25 in-person offering runs two days at eight hours per day. The December 14–16 live-online offering runs three days at five hours per day. These are alternatives, not a combined five-day program. The displayed in-person sample modules are subject to change and should not be treated as the live-online timetable.
Berkeley is live online over five weeks, with a stated commitment of four to five hours per week. It includes five faculty-led sessions, facilitator office hours, peer learning and a capstone strategy project. Published tuition is USD 3,550. Both prices concern one course enrollment; neither establishes every incidental attendance cost. The lower Berkeley tuition does not by itself tell you which curriculum fits better, and calendar weeks should not be converted into a guaranteed completion-time comparison.
Check entry expectations and certificate scope
Berkeley explicitly says no prior coding or technical implementation experience is required, while addressing experienced professionals shaping AI in organizations. MIT names leaders, non-technical managers and business professionals, but the reviewed source does not state a formal prerequisite requirement or level label. Absence of a stated requirement is not the same as an explicit promise of no prerequisites. Neither course should be selected as a replacement for a technical engineering curriculum.
MIT awards a course-completion certificate that contributes toward, but does not itself confer, the Executive Certificate in Digital Business. Berkeley awards a verified digital Certificate of Completion and encourages profile and professional-network sharing; it carries no degree credit or CEUs. External exam, expiry and renewal requirements are not stated in the reviewed evidence. Choose between the broader AI-adoption focus and the agentic-AI strategy focus, then confirm that the live schedule fits your work.
